Who are We?
Highline Tutoring provides: Tutorial services or extended learning for both school age students and adults. The teachers specialize in teaching basic skills in reading, language arts, and math. Study skills taught include general organization of papers and accountability. Tutoring in Physics, Chemistry, and higher math is also available. Credit classes can possibly be arranged for those who wish to have transferable credits in most subjects. These classes are subject to Washington State guidelines.
The goals behind every lesson are student achievement in the understanding of stated objectives and the development of a better self-image. Parent participation is encouraged.
Iowa Basic, Standard Achievement, Woodcock-Johnson - #3, Wide Range Achievement Test #4, grade level skills competency testing, and informal evaluations are now available through Highline Tutoring. Administration of tests are one-on-one or in a small group situation.
Home school students receive individualized help in setting up an education program, tutoring, testing, and record keeping. Small group classes are also available. Credit classes can possibly be arranged for those who wish to have transferable credits in most subjects. These classes are subject to Washington State guidelines
The student hours are scheduled according to the time of the year. During the school year, tutorial sessions are scheduled after 2:30 PM and continued throughout the evening, usually Monday through Thursday. Summer sessions hours are both daylight and evening hours. Daylight hours are available for students not enrolled in a daytime school situation. Highline Tutoring usually closes during school breaks. However, with special arrangements students sometimes can receive tutoring during such special occasions.
The teachers of Highline Tutoring hold a current Washington State teaching certificate. They are experienced substitutes for area school districts, classroom teachers, and tutors. All teachers receive a background check through the law enforcement agencies.
The fees are based upon the hourly rate and kept at a reasonable level. Special rates are available to families enrolled for more than seven to eight hours per month.
